BU Goalie Coach Eklund to run CMO Goalie Skills

The Central Mass Outlaws are happy to announce that goalie skills for the winter of 2019-20 will be run by MassCrease under the direction of former NHL goaltender and current Boston University Men’s Goaltending Coach Brian Eklund.
Eklund is in his fourth season coaching the Terriers.  Last season he worked extensively with Jake Oettinger, the first goaltender chosen in the first round of the NHL draft in five years.  Prior to coaching at BU, he spent three seasons in the same role at Harvard where he helped the Crimson goalies set school records in wins, saves, and starts.
After playing his college hockey at Brown, Eklund signed a two-year deal with the NHL’s Tampa Bay Lightning and starred for their ECHL team,  the Pensicola Ice Pilots, before earning a ring with the Lightning as the team’s third goaltender during their run to the 2004 Stanley Cup title. He went on to make his NHL debut with the Lightning during the 2005-06 campaign and played two seasons in the AHL with the Springfield Falcons and Providence Bruins.
He created MassCrease 11 years ago with the belief that modern goaltending was changing - and that goalie development needed to change with it.  For years, goalies had been trained the same way. Under the direction of Eklund a new method of developing goalies was created. It’s not a one size fits most approach. Every goalie is different. MassCrease coaches are different. MassCrease drills are different. MassCrease results are different.
Former NHLer and Boston College star Blake Bellefeuille, along with former UMass-Amherst star and current Framingham HS Head Coach Will Ortiz will continue to supervise skill sessions for all CMO skaters.  Along with the addition of MassCrease, CMO's Sunday Night Skills will provide all players a competitive advangate when they need it most - in the heart of the hockey season.  As always, skill sessions are included with tuition at no additional cost.
Central Mass Outlaws winter skill sessions will be held on Sunday nights at the New England Sports Center in Marlboro beginning November 17th.  For more information go to www.outlawshockey.com.  For more info on Eklund and MassCrease visit  www.masscrease.com.
